Tesla reported as expected lower solar system installations for the fourth quarter of 2018, while citing continued testing of its roof tile system for a still vague roll-out timetable for mass production and deployments. Tesla reported solar installations in the fourth quarter of 2018 reached 73MW, down 21% in the previous quarter which was the peak quarter for installations in 2018.
Winemaker Greg Allen had a problem. As president of Far Niente Winery in Napa Valley, California, he had done the math on how much land the vineyard could possibly dedicate to solar panels, to offset energy costs. The figure—about two acres—“really hurt,” Allen says. So he compromised: Far Niente completed an array of 2,296 solar panels, 994 of which float on pontoons tethered to the bottom of the winery’s pond.

Miközben az egymásra licitáló cégek megközelítik a 20 megawattos (MW) napelemes erőmű-méretet, az épületek tetejére került plusz kapacitás háromnegyed év alatt elérte a 60 MW-ot.
Az idei évben folytatódhat a napenergia világhódítása, köszönhetően elsősorban a technológiai fejlődésnek, a költségek további csökkenésének, valamint a fenntartható energiatermelésre vonatkozó szabályozások terjedésének. Az újonnan telepített kapacitások minden korábbit meghaladhatnak, azonban 2019 vízválasztó lehet a megaprojektek kilátásait illetően.
